Ekaterinburg. October 17th. INTERFAX - The Su-25 assault aircraft of the Russian military base "Kant" have been transferred from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan for a joint exercise with the collective rapid deployment forces of the Central Asian region (CAR) "Rubezh-2022", the joint press center of the CSTO exercises reported on Monday.
"The crews will work out missile strikes against targets in a mountainous desert area in the south of Tajikistan," the report says.
The press center also noted that Mi-24 attack helicopters and Mi-8MTV5-1 transport and combat helicopters of the 201st military base air group are involved in the exercise.
"The pilots will search and classify targets, launch unguided aircraft missiles, as well as fire from 30-mm cannons at targets simulating a convoy of cars and a command post of a conditional enemy," the press center added.
In addition, Russian Mi-8MTV5-1 helicopters will land airborne troops in a tactical way "to strengthen the combat potential of the main forces."
The joint Russian military base is located in the Chui region of Kyrgyzstan. The base is part of the collective rapid deployment forces, participates in ensuring the security of the airspace of the CSTO states. The base is armed with Su-25 attack aircraft and upgraded Mi-8MTV5-1 helicopters.
As reported, the active phase of the exercise will be held in the south of Tajikistan from October 17 to 21. It will be attended by military contingents of the CSTO Central Asian region member states, operational groups of the CSTO joint staff and secretariat. There are about 1 thousand people in total, including about 600 people from the Russian Federation. The Russian contingent will be based on servicemen of the Central Military District from the 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan.
Also, over 300 units of military and special equipment will be involved in the exercises.
