The Armed Forces of Russia (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) disrupted the preparation of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) to conduct a river landing operation in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP). This was announced on October 15 by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
In addition, it was noted that in the area of Dvurechny, Kharkiv region, the crossing of an enemy tactical group across the Oskol River was disrupted, as a result of which more than 30 Ukrainian soldiers were destroyed, as well as four armored vehicles and two pickups.
"Up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen, two tanks, five armored fighting vehicles, three cars, as well as a field ammunition depot were destroyed by artillery fire in the area of the Berestove settlement of the Kharkiv region," Konashenkov said.
Also, the Ministry of Defense added that over the past day, the AFU did not conduct offensive actions in the Kupyansk direction. At the same time, in the area of settlements in the Kherson region, the Russian military repelled the attacks of the Ukrainian army in the area of three settlements at once.
In turn, in the Krasnolimansk direction, the AFU attempted to conduct reconnaissance by combat in the areas of the settlements of Sergeyevka and Makeyevka of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), as well as Novosadovoye and Torskoye of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). But as a result of the fire damage, the Ukrainian units were thrown back to their original positions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 60 Ukrainian soldiers.
Earlier on Saturday, Deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousov noted that attempts by the armed forces of Ukraine to attack the Kherson region are futile. The defense line is working, the situation is under full control, he said.
On October 14, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov pointed out that the main thing in ensuring safety at the Zaporozhye NPP is to exclude provocations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. That is, to create an environment where shelling, sabotage, and other provocations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the NPP and the nearby town of Energodar would be excluded.
At the same time, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, noted that the intensive negotiations with the authorities of Ukraine and the Russian Federation made it possible to get closer to the formation of a protective zone around the NPP.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region due to the increased shelling by the Ukrainian military. The Kherson region became part of Russia following the results of the referendum held on September 23-27.
