TSAMTO, October 13. The Coast Guard of the Republic of Korea has received the third search and rescue helicopter S-92 manufactured by Sikorsky (a division of Lockheed Martin).

As stated, the increase in the S-92 fleet of the South Korean Coast Guard expands its capabilities to ensure safety at sea, conduct search and rescue operations, provide emergency medical assistance and save the lives of victims of natural disasters.

Sikorsky also continues to provide technical support to the Korean Coast Guard's S-92 fleet. In addition, the company intends to deliver a fourth S-92 helicopter next year.

Since 2014, the Coast Guard of the Republic of Korea has conducted 195 rescue operations, the helicopter flight has exceeded 2,700 hours.

The total flight time of the S-92 helicopters delivered by Sikorsky to 28 countries of the world recently reached 2 million hours.

As reported by TSAMTO, Sikorsky signed a contract for the supply of the first S-92 helicopter with the command of the Coast Guard of the Republic of Korea in December 2011 as part of the program for the purchase of multi-purpose heavy helicopters. The decision was made based on the results of a competition with the participation of three applicants. At the same time, the South Korean side expressed its intention to purchase three additional helicopters. The first S-92 was adopted by the Coast Guard of the Republic of Korea in March 2014. The second helicopter was delivered in June 2017. In April 2022, one of the S-92s suffered a disaster that led to the death of two crew members.
