Defenders of Donbass strike at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with MT-12 "Rapier" anti-tank guns. The military correspondent of Izvestia, Alexander Safiulin, showed the combat work of gunners in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on October 12.
According to the military, the Rapier cannon is also called the "sniper rifle of artillery". The gun strikes with high-explosive shells.
According to experienced fighters, the battles with the AFU have now become more active. The Ukrainian military, for its part, uses American M777 and HIMARS. At the same time, their battery operation is also very well established.
"They choose new positions every time. Our guys, spotters, comrades, help us determine these positions, set goals and we work on these goals. Of course, we try to destroy. We help the guys as much as we can," said the gunner with the call sign Meldonius.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told about the work of crews of combat vehicles of self-propelled mortars 2C4 "Tulip" of the Western Military District (ZVO), which are used to perform firing tasks as part of a special operation to protect Donbass.
"Tulips" are designed to destroy fortified structures and command posts of the enemy, as well as the elimination of weapons of various types. Mortars can hit even a highly protected object, which smaller artillery pieces cannot cope with.
At the same time, it became known that thanks to the active actions of Russian troops, concentrated Russian artillery fire, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SBU) were knocked out from the outskirts of the village of Kislovka in the Kharkiv region and thrown back to their original positions. The attempts of the offensive of the Ukrainian forces in Kupyansk, Krasnolimansk, Zaporizhia, Krivoy Rog and Andreevsky directions are also reflected.
On October 11, the correspondent of the Izvestia TV channel, Semyon Eremin, told how the Allied troops were crushing the enemy in the Belogorovsky direction. The servicemen identified a number of enemy targets near the Lugansk village of Belogorovka with the help of drones. The soldiers of the Archangel Michael battalion 1539 and a separate tank battalion inflicted a fire defeat on the nationalists from a T-80 tank, which was firing from closed positions. An anti-tank missile system was also involved.
Russia continues the special operation to protect Donbass, which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. A few days earlier, the situation in the region had significantly worsened due to shelling by Ukrainian militants. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and also appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
