TSAMTO, October 12. The US Senate has lifted restrictive conditions in its version of the bill on the deal with Turkey on F-16 fighter jets, similar actions are expected from the House of Representatives.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was reported by the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak.
As the agency reminds, the United States previously sent an official notification to Turkey about its exclusion from the supply program of the latest F-35 fighter jets due to Ankara's purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan subsequently announced the US offer to buy other fighters, but not the fifth, but the fourth generation - the F-16. The issue will have to be agreed in the US Congress – the State Department is lobbying for it, convincing congressmen that the deal "serves Washington's interests."
"All the restrictive conditions added to the bill on the sale of F-16 aircraft to Turkey have been removed from the Senate version of the bill. The House version of the bill also has a similar addition with conditions, but it is expected that these items will also be removed. After the Senate completes work on the bill, it will be transformed into a joint text with the version of the House of Representatives and sent to the table of US President Joe Biden for approval," the newspaper writes.
