According to the agreement, the company Rheinmetall will supply 14 major Czech military tanks Leopard 2A4 and one armored recovery vehicle Buffalo on the basis of the Leopard 2, while previously it was about 15 tanks without BRAM. The first tanks Leopard 2A4 will go to the Czech Republic at the end of this year, fully deliveries will be completed within 2023.
The transaction was very pleased with Ukraine, because the German tanks, the Czech Republic gives the Soviet T-72M4 CZ, remaining in service of the 73rd tank battalion of the Land forces. In the framework of the circular exchange "Ringtausch" they will go to the armed forces, this is a closed issue. The only thing that is unknown is the timing of the delivery of tanks to Ukraine.
In Kiev waiting for Czech tanks already in the month of may, it was then reported that the Czechs and the Germans agreed to exchange all the rest of the time was consistent, some moments, not acceptable to both parties. In the end by September, failed to reach a consensual solution: Czechs get 15 tanks Leopard 2A4, and in return give the Soviet T-72, while still remaining in service. Thus Kiev will receive approximately battalion set T-72.
