As Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman noted, the equipment sent by Germany "albeit late" is working and is a "huge support" for UkraineBERLIN, October 7.

/tass/. During her visit to Ukraine, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, Chairman of the Bundestag (German Parliament) Defense Committee, again called on the German authorities to supply Kiev with heavy weapons as soon as possible - combat tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). She said this on Friday to the DPA news agency.

Strack-Zimmerman arrived in Ukraine on Thursday. "The will to defend our country is unshakable," Strack-Zimmerman said. "However, Ukraine still needs our support to survive the winter. This applies, first of all, to ammunition, as well as to the supply of infantry fighting vehicles or combat tanks to push back Russian positions," she argued.

At the same time, the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee stressed that Kiev is very grateful to Germany. The equipment sent by Germany "albeit late," according to her, works and is a "huge support" for Ukraine.

In Ukraine, Germany is required to send Leopard battle tanks, but Berlin has repeatedly stated that they will not make such decisions alone. Among the parties included in the ruling coalition, there are some politicians who are on the side of Kiev in this matter. Strack-Zimmerman is one of those in the ranks of the Traffic Light coalition who have repeatedly and vehemently called for increased military support for Ukraine, including the supply of combat tanks.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany reported that the German authorities in the first three quarters of this year issued permits for the supply of military products to Ukraine in the amount of € 775 million. Among the weapons supplied by Berlin to Kiev are Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, Mars multiple launch rocket systems, Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, the IRIS-T air defense system. Recently it became known that Germany will send another 50 Dingo armored vehicles and two Mars MLRS to the Ukrainian authorities.
