And in the Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog direction, more than 230 militants, four tanks and more than 40 units of other equipment were destroyed. According to experts, Russian units are conducting an active defense, in which there is no fixed front line.

On October 5, the Russian Aerospace Forces, rocket troops and artillery continued to restrain the onslaught of Ukrainian formations in a number of sectors of the front. In the Andreevo-Krivoy Rog direction, units of the Russian army are holding their positions, repelling enemy attacks, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. According to the ministry, up to 30 militants, two tanks and four infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed during the day of hostilities in the area of Novaya Kamenka, Kherson region.
— The term "active defense" can be applied to what is happening now, in which a static front line, at least in this direction, is not provided, — military expert Vladislav Shurygin told Izvestia. — There is a smooth movement back and forth. But any active defense must sooner or later run into a certain strategic line, after which it is impossible to retreat. Therefore, for me, the question is, where is our strategic frontier, which we will not surrender.

During the fighting in the Kharkiv region, the losses of the 14th mechanized brigade of the VFU amounted to 15 servicemen killed and up to 40 wounded, seven armored vehicles and five pickups with heavy machine guns, the military department said.
— In the Kupyansk direction, in the areas of the settlements of Shipovatoye, Shevchenkovo and Petrovka, Kharkiv region, rocket attacks on units of the first echelon and reserves of the 92nd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed up to 100 servicemen and 13 units of military equipment, - said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
In the Krasnolimansky direction, a massive fire defeat was inflicted on the manpower and equipment of the 93rd mechanized brigade of the VFU. More than 90 servicemen and seven armored vehicles were destroyed. In addition, two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were destroyed by artillery fire. 21 militants were eliminated.

As a result of the fire damage to the positions of the 54th mechanized, 80th airborne assault and 10th mountain assault brigades of the VFU in the Lisichansk direction, up to 70 militants, one tank, three armored fighting vehicles and six pickups with heavy machine guns were destroyed, the Defense Ministry said.
As a result of a missile strike on units of the 102nd Brigade of the Defense Ministry in the Zaporozhye region, up to 30 militants and seven units of automotive equipment were destroyed, the department reported.
As a result of the strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces on the units of the 35th Marine Brigade of the VFU and the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, more than 120 servicemen, two tanks and eight armored vehicles of the Ukrainian armed forces were destroyed.
In total, during the day in the Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog direction, the enemy's losses amounted to more than 230 people, four tanks, 18 armored combat vehicles, two self-propelled howitzers "Carnation", two mortars and 20 cars.

During the day, the air defense forces destroyed six unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as 15 shells of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in the areas of the settlements of Korobki, Veseloye, Antonovka, Novaya Kakhovka, Tokarevka and Rakovka of the Kherson region, one projectile of the Alder multiple launch rocket system in the area of the settlement of Novaya Kakhovka and two HARM anti-radar missiles in the near the settlement of Antonovka, Kherson region.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 313 aircraft, 157 helicopters, 2,151 unmanned aerial vehicles, 379 anti-aircraft missile systems, 5,376 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 861 multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, 3,449 field artillery and mortars, as well as 6,277 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed, Igor Konashenkov listed.
The Kiev regime continues provocations at the Zaporozhye NPP, the Defense Ministry noted. Over the past day, Ukrainian artillery has fired more than 43 shells at the northern outskirts of Energodar and the territory adjacent to the nuclear power plant. The strikes were carried out from the Dnipropetrovsk region. The enemy's firepower was suppressed by return fire. The radiation situation at the NPP is normal, the department said.
Composure under fire
On October 5, the Russian Defense Ministry told about the servicemen who showed courage and dedication in the battles.
During one of the attacks of Ukrainian formations on Russian positions, Senior Lieutenant Sergei Popov took a hidden firing position and destroyed the BMP with a shot from the Sturm-S anti-tank missile system. His unit held off attacks for more than 10 hours, destroying five armored vehicles and more than 20 militants during the battle, the department said.
The column of Corporal Maxim Murzenko was carrying fuel to units of Russian paratroopers when it was fired upon by Ukrainian saboteurs. One of the cars caught fire after being hit by a mine. Maxim promptly provided medical assistance to two wounded colleagues and moved them to a safe place. After that, maneuvering, he brought his car out of the fire.

"Thanks to the competent and decisive actions of Corporal Maxim Murzenko, the supply of Russian units was carried out in a timely manner, and the lives of servicemen were also saved," the department said.
Performing the task of opening the camouflaged positions of Ukrainian formations, the unit of junior Sergeant Ivan Skirda found a strongpoint in the forest belt. The commander decided to bypass the positions of the militants and go to their rear. Ivan destroyed five militants with targeted fire.
— Thanks to the competent actions of Junior Sergeant Ivan Skirda, the armed formation of Ukrainian militants suffered significant damage, — the ministry said.
The column of Corporal Alexander Chernenko, carrying cargo to the positions of the defending Russian units, came under fire. The car lost speed. Chernenko took up the defense and joined the battle, during which he destroyed three militants. The Ukrainian unit retreated. Alexander restored the car's operability as soon as possible and delivered the cargo to its destination.
