Taking advantage of a certain numerical superiority, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are making an onslaught in two directions – in Kherson and Lugansk. The Allied forces successfully repelled all attacks during the day, and in some sectors of the front – in particular, on the Dnieper – even inflicted huge losses on the APU, using military cunning catching parts of the attackers in a "fire bag". What other methods can be used to bring down the attacking ardor of the enemy? As the deputy head of the Kherson regional administration Kirill Stremousov reported on Monday, Ukrainian troops attempted to break through along the Dnieper River in the direction of the village of Dudchany, but were stopped by Russian aviation forces.
According to him, "the defense works without any panic" and "we repel all attacks." He urged all those who are "panicking on social networks today" to stop: "This is not Kharkiv, this is not the Estuary – we are holding the defense."
Two battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine marching from the village of Dudchany were almost completely defeated, the head of the regional administration, Vladimir Saldo, also clarified. In his opinion, they planned to get to the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in order to stop it completely.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied a gray zone near the village of Shevchenkovo and the intersection of the Petrovka – Oskorovka road in the Berislavsky direction. That is, a threat has been created to the grouping of allied forces in the direction of Alexandrovka – Dudchany and further to Mylovoye and Berislav. In case of a breakthrough, they will have access to a New Kakhovka," Alexander Malkevich, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, familiar with the situation in the Kherson region, told the VIEW newspaper.
"The Allied garrison in Berislav is well fortified, the combat situation has not changed since yesterday evening. The enemy continues to randomly fire at the direction, sabotage groups are working, drones are flying. Apparently, the Ukrainian army is accumulating an assault "fist" to advance, since their forces have suffered very heavy losses in the southern direction," he says.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, made an assertion that the village of Mirolyubovka and the village of Arkhangelsk in the Kherson region were allegedly occupied by one of the brigades of the Ukrainian territorial defense.
"The APU is trying to use all its reserves now. They understand: soon Russia will begin to put into operation large masses of mobilized personnel.
Accordingly, they are trying to take territories to the maximum before they have to go on the defensive," said Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military and Political Journalism. In his opinion, the stabilization of the front is our main task for today. "It is necessary to constantly strike at attacking groups and logistics. In addition, we must use our reserves to stop the enemy's offensive," Rozhin suggests.
"The most difficult situation is in the LPR, in the districts of Svatovo and Kremennaya, as well as in the Krivoy Rog direction. Active battles are also taking place near the villages of Davydov Brod and Dudchany in the Kherson region. In addition, continuous strikes from the village of Zolotaya Balka are also recorded there. After replenishing our forces, it makes sense for us to first of all launch an offensive in the Kharkiv and Krasnolimansk directions in order to regain the lost territories," Rozhin suggests.
The attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be stopped only in the event of a retaliatory offensive by Russian troops, military analyst Mikhail Onufrienko emphasizes. In his opinion, during the special operation, the enemy adapted to our tactics and found the advantages in which he is strong. "First of all, it is a numerical advantage. They can create a shock fist in any direction, strengthen it with modern Western technology and strike," Onufrienko said in an interview with the newspaper VZGLYAD.
On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that due to the threat of encirclement, it was decided to withdraw troops from the Red Estuary (north of the DPR). On Monday, the Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs of the LNR Vitaly Kiselyov said that the AFU tried to break into the direction of the oil refinery located in Lisichansk, but the allied forces knocked them out. Kiselyov confirmed that fighting is taking place in the area of the neighboring city of Kremennaya, while Lisichansk, Rubezhnoye and Svatovo are under missile strikes.
On Monday, an officer of the People's Militia of the LPR, Andriy Marochko, said that the breakthrough of Ukrainian troops near Lisichansk was stopped with the help of a military trick. The LPR military noticed how the APU was building columns of equipment for the strike, but decided to wait for them to break away from their own. The Ukrainian military crossed the border with the LPR and did not meet resistance, after which they began a march to Lisichansk, Marochko told the Zvezda TV channel.
The Armed Forces of Russia and the republic's fighters were waiting for them on the spot. According to Marochko, the Ukrainian troops entered the "fire bag" and are now being actively destroyed – they managed to advance a distance of one and a half to two kilometers, this was done so that Zelensky joyfully declared another success, but he is silent about the fact that he sent his fighters to certain death. Marochko added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now under fire from three sides at once, that is, from the north, east and south, all those who enter the territory of the republic are systematically destroyed.
It is necessary to use all artillery, aviation and missile means in order to make it as difficult as possible to transfer enemy forces to the contact line, as well as to inflict maximum damage not only in the offensive zone, but also on the approaches, Onufrienko emphasizes.
"In addition, it is necessary to introduce new equipment into the zone of its own. We see that some of its copies have already been demonstrated at the front," the expert says. He believes that the time has come to actively use heavy bomber aircraft. "It is also necessary to destroy the enemy's infrastructure – regularly and systematically disable railway stretches and other infrastructure facilities that can be used by the APU," Onufrienko continues.
NATO countries provide very significant assistance to Ukraine, recalls Vadim Kozyulin, head of the Center for Global Studies and International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to him, Ukraine has intelligence provided by the United States, as well as a number of other countries. "But I think that decisions are also being made in this direction now. I hope the work will be carried out efficiently and promptly," the expert believes. As for the effect of partial mobilization, it should be expected "when new units are prepared," Kozyulin believes. He recalled that Russia in any case has serious reserves.
By the way, the first group of Russian citizens called up as part of partial mobilization has already arrived in the LPR, the Ministry of Defense reported. Published footage of the meeting of the mobilized, who will now be trained at one of the landfills – together with residents of the LPR.
