On September 15, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Luxembourg Francois Bausch announced the decision of the Government of the Duchy to purchase 80 new CLRV (Command, Liaison and Reconnaissance Vehicles) wheeled armored vehicles for the Luxembourg army, developed on the basis of the Eagle V (4x4) machine manufactured by the Swiss company General Dynamics European Land Systems - MOWAG (GDELS-MOWAG, the Swiss branch of General Dynamics Corporation). The relevant contract was concluded by the Government of Luxembourg through the NATO Procurement and Procurement Agency (NSPA), which will also provide logistical support for the purchased vehicles throughout the entire life cycle.

Deliveries will be carried out from December 2025 to July 2026.
The procurement program for the Luxembourg Army of 80 new CLRV wheeled armored vehicles was launched in 2021, the corresponding allocations for it were allocated in December. The 80 CLRV vehicles being purchased should replace the two main types of armored vehicles in the Luxembourg army now - 42 M1151 HMMWV armored vehicles and 48 PRV armored vehicles (Protected Reconnaissance Vehicle, German Dingo II armored vehicles) - the latter, although they were received only in 2010-2011, are considered unsatisfactory and insufficiently passable in the Luxembourg army.
The CLRV vehicles purchased by Luxembourg will be based on the design of Eagle V vehicles (full combat weight of 10 tons) and must be equipped with deFNder Medium machine-gun remotely controlled combat modules manufactured by the Belgian company FN Herstal, the CONTACT communication system and the SCORPION network combat information system of the Thales group (this should ensure compatibility with the armed forces of France and Belgium), as well as the BARAGE radio suppression system manufactured by Thales Belgium.
Luxembourg's choice of the Swiss Eagle V car was made on the basis of positive conclusions from the operation of four Eagle V armored vehicles purchased by the Luxemburg army in early 2021 in the medical version PAV (Protected Ambulance Vehicle) with a 6x6 wheel formula. Luxembourg became the fourth recipient of the Eagle V cars (and the Eagle family as a whole) after the armed forces and law enforcement agencies of Switzerland, Denmark and Germany.
