According to Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of the RCBZ Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, before Ward's arrival, the organization's work was constructive in nature and was aimed at solving specific issuesMOSCOW, September 19.
/tass/. US Special Representative Kenneth Ward is conducting destructive activities at the site of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons (BTWC), which will help to adjust the mechanisms of the convention to the tasks of Washington. This was announced on Monday by the head of the radiation, chemical and Biological Protection Troops (RCBZ) Russian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.
"Destructive activity of Ward at the KBTO site <...> it will help to adjust the mechanisms of the convention to the tasks of Washington," Kirillov said, recalling the results of Ward's work in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), as a result of which gross violations of international law were committed in Syria.
"During his work at the OPCW, Ward worked closely with the so-called White Helmets, who staged the use of chemical weapons by Syrian troops in Khan Sheikhoun in 2017. Using this provocation as a pretext and without waiting for the investigation to begin, the Americans launched a missile attack on the Shayrat airbase, thereby grossly violating the norms of international law," Kirillov stressed.
"Before his [Ward's] arrival, the organization's work was constructive and focused on solving specific issues. One of the results of Ward's activity was the transformation of a professional, purely technical organization into a politicized structure with functions for solving the foreign policy tasks of Washington and its NATO allies," Kirillov said.
