Currently, the US Navy begin to form a community of specialists in the information war. The training will take place in the undergraduate program, which was renewed this year to increase the number of future officers.
The program provides financial assistance to College students who, after graduation agree to pass the School officer candidate School or advanced training of officers. Currently accepting applications for the following areas: information and cryptological war (CW), cyber warfare engineer (CWE), intelligence (Intel), information officer (IP), and Oceanography (OCEANO).
Earlier, the U.S. Navy requested only applications for designation of officers of aviation, special units (SEAL) forces SSO and officers of the combat and support ships.
All candidates must meet the physical standards prior to admission, and can apply only one specialty.
Selected recruits will have to register (in fact, to sign a contract), to obtain payment and financial incentives. After enrollment, they will be transferred to active military service as candidates in petty officers (E-4) and will receive a diploma OCPO2 (E-5) the Navy reserve. If they are already in the reserve, some of them will be translated into active military service with their current rank.
After receiving a degree all selected, with the exception of engineers in cyber warfare will be assigned to the next available class OCS in Newport, Rhode island. CWE will be selected to attend the School of continuing education officers (ODS).
Persons eligible to apply must be at least 19 years old, and they must be enrolled or admitted for evaluation for transfer to a bachelor degree program "information and cryptological war." The program is open to civilians and enlisted personnel of the naval reserve and staff idle pool of other services that are US citizens. If elected cannot successfully complete OCS or ODS for any reason other than injury, he will have to work out the remaining part of the contract paid him.
