As noted in the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany, support will be provided "in close coordination with allies"BERLIN, September 12.
/tass/. Germany will continue to provide military support to Ukraine only in coordination with its allies. This was stated on Monday at a briefing by the representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Christiane Hoffman, answering a question about the possibility of providing Leopard 2 combat tanks to Kiev.
"Without a doubt, Germany will continue to support Ukraine militarily in the most effective way - in close coordination with allies," she said, declining to give details of such support.
The Ukrainian side has repeatedly demanded that Berlin provide Leopard 2 tanks, but German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly said that Berlin will continue to support Kiev, but is not ready for unilateral steps. Last weekend, a number of representatives of the liberals and the Greens called for an increase in the supply of weapons to Ukraine, in particular for the provision of Leopards to Kiev.
According to an earlier report by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Germany has already supplied Ukraine with military goods worth €686 million. Thus, the former Soviet Republic has become the most important recipient of German weapons among non-NATO states and non-alliance partners.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. The West then imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. Western states have increased the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev in the amount of billions of dollars.
