TSAMTO, September 12. Germany is negotiating with Poland on the establishment of a maintenance center for the repair of weapons provided to Ukraine.
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated to Politico by German Defense Minister Kristina Lambrecht.
According to her, "extremely specific" discussions concern the opening of a center in eastern Poland, which, if necessary, will ensure prompt repair of weapons used by Kiev – for example, howitzers.
K. Lambrecht also supports joint projects on the development of weapons within the EU and believes that it is not necessary to block the sale of these weapons to third countries.
The Defense Minister, speaking earlier in the German Bundestag, said that the country had transferred "an incredible amount" of weapons to Kiev from the Bundeswehr reserve, but the limit had been reached. The fact that Germany supplies enough weapons to Ukraine was reported earlier by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, which is in opposition in Germany, Friedrich Merz, spoke several times in favor of supplying German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian side is asking for, the agency notes.
