Roscosmos State Corporation and TERRA TECH JSC (part of the Russian Space Systems holding of Roscosmos State Corporation) are launching a joint portal that will tell about significant changes in nature and ecology, emergency situations, socio-economic processes in Russia and the world visible from space.
The new project will combine news information and advanced remote sensing tools, geoinformation technologies, artificial intelligence algorithms for objective and independent coverage of the dynamics of socio-economic development, the implementation of major projects, natural phenomena and other significant events.
Satellite monitoring can track in the time perspective or retrospective of several decades the dynamics of the development of events of various scales – from global planetary to regional and local. Satellite imagery and automatic digital data processing quickly determine the dimension, qualitative and quantitative characteristics of objects, the impact of events on the economy, infrastructure, nature, ecology, health and well-being of citizens.
On the portal, up-to-date geoanalytics is supported by visual interactive infographics, journalistic presentation of the results of professional analysis of space data and other sources of information. The objective information obtained on the basis of satellite images is adapted for perception and does not require special knowledge, since it is oriented to a wide audience, and not only to trained specialists.
Analytics of various events with geographical reference is also relevant and in demand by the mass media. The results of geospatial analysis will provide media employees with additional data, will allow them to assess the real state of affairs on key projects in the country and abroad, complementing reports on remote locations with real and visual information. The published geo-analytical materials have interactive elements that ensure their free embedding in third-party media resources, blogs, websites and portals.
