According to the Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, the conclusions of the mission are insufficient to guarantee the nuclear safety of the plantMOSCOW, September 6.
/tass/. The conclusions of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), set out in the report on the results of the visit to the Zaporozhye NPP, are insufficient to guarantee the nuclear safety of the plant. This opinion was expressed by TASS on Tuesday by the Vice-speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
"Unfortunately, the mission's report does not contain any "added value": it would be possible to inform the world that the shelling of the station carries the risks of its destruction without going to the place. The advantages of the report include the statement that the actual operational safety by the specialists controlling the station, including Russian ones, is fully ensured. But even such a conclusion, in his opinion, is clearly not enough to guarantee the nuclear safety of the NPP," the senator said.
However, he considers it a positive factor that cooperation with the IAEA has been established in one way or another. "This is better than if it could not be adjusted," Kosachev stated.
According to him, it remains to solve the main task - to get the APU to stop the shelling of the station. "But for this, the IAEA, even in terms of its competence, will need to gain much more courage than what was required to organize the agency's mission itself," the Deputy Chairman of the SF stressed.
Earlier on Tuesday, the IAEA published a report on the results of the visit to the station, in which it is proposed to demilitarize it and create a "safe zone" around it.
