As Igor Kirillov explained, the Ukrainian authorities expect to achieve a noticeable propaganda effect, causing, as they believe, a "minor accident." Its result should be a radiation leak, a violation of the integrity of the nuclear waste storage and the disabling of the NPP reactor.
In addition, Kiev plans to create a 30-kilometer exclusion zone around the station, as well as the introduction of international forces and foreign observers into the territory of the NPP.

Igor Kirillov recalled that after the Chernobyl accident, more than 20 European countries were contaminated with radioactive isotopes. About 4 thousand people died from radiation exposure. Not counting the consequences of forced evacuation, more than 5.5 million people received an increased dose of radiation.
