TSAMTO, August 17. A Latvian charity organization has announced a collection of 5 million euros for the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drone for Ukraine, according to the organization's website.
"We invite residents of Latvia to make a donation to the Latvian Bayraktar, which the Latvian Ministry of Defense plans to buy in Turkey for transfer to Ukraine... Similar actions have already taken place, for example, in Poland, Lithuania, Norway and Canada," RIA Novosti quotes the message of the charity organization.
The project was launched on August 16. As of 17:00 Moscow time on August 16, 163.8 thousand euros were collected out of 5 million euros.
Earlier, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas said that Turkey had decided to give Lithuania a Bayraktar attack unmanned aerial vehicle for Ukraine, for which money had already been raised in the republic. He noted that 1.5 million euros of the collected amount will go to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense and will be used for guided air-to-ground missiles to Bayraktar, and the remaining 4.4 million euros, at the request of Turkey, will be directed "to humanitarian and other assistance to Ukraine."
