The authorities of the Zaporozhye region allowed the conservation of the NPP due to the constant shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Residents of a part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not want to fight on the side of Kiev, the pro-Russian administration of the region said. According to Vladimir Rogov, there have already been cases of clashes between detachments and soldiers of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are shelling the Zaporozhye NPP, using guided Western shells. This may lead to the conservation of the station - in order to avoid a catastrophe. For more information about the situation around the NPP, see the material "Gazeta.Ru».

Citizens of Ukraine living in a part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by the Ukrainian military do not want to join the territorial defense, protecting the Kiev regime. This was stated by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the pro-Russian administration of Zaporozhye, RIA Novosti reports.

"The Zaporozhtzi do not want to fight en masse and are trying in every possible way to come over to our side. In Kiev, they understand that it is impossible to leave weapons with the residents of the Zaporozhye region, because soon they can deploy it in the other direction," he said.

The official added that the Zaporozhtzi "do not want to fight, kill, or die for [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky."

Rogov added that at the moment there have been several clashes between locals who were "forcibly driven into the ranks of territorial defense" and "detachments of [Ukrainian] nationalists." "Territorial defense in the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye region will be written off," he stressed.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation control the south and center of the Zaporozhye region, more than 50% of the region's territory. The regional center of Zaporozhye remains in the hands of the AFU. At the same time, the Russian military occupy Berdyansk, Melitopol and Energodar, where the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power plant (ZAES), the largest in Europe, is located.

Rogov also said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel that the authorities of Zaporozhye can preserve the Zaporozhye NPP if the shelling by the AFU continues.

According to him, now the NPP is operating at minimum capacity due to the shelling of the Ukrainian military, damage to power lines is constantly being recorded. At the moment, there are 173 containers at the nuclear power plant, which contain nuclear waste - they are also in the affected area of the Ukrainian artillery.

"This is a colossal amount of radioactive substances, the defeat of which can lead to the irreparable," the official concluded.

NATO guided missiles

The Armed forces of Ukraine fired at the Zaporozhye NPP with Western guided missiles, Vladimir Rogov said on August 12.

"Please note that the shelling of nuclear power plants is carried out by guided projectiles produced by the same Anglo-Saxons. They are dangerous because they are controlled - they fly to where they were sent," he said on the air of Rossiya-24.

Since the beginning of August, the territory of the NPP has been regularly shelled - according to the statement of the Russian authorities and the regional administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing this. Moscow claims that the shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces threatens a nuclear catastrophe.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to preliminary estimates, does not see an immediate threat to nuclear safety at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, said the agency's Director General Rafael Grossi.

"There is no immediate threat to nuclear safety as a result of the shelling [of the nuclear power plant] or other military actions," Grossi said at a meeting of the UN Security Council. At the same time, he admitted that due to the shelling, the situation could become catastrophic at any moment.

Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said that the responsibility for the possible release of radiation from the NPP will lie with the "Western sponsors" of Kiev. The United States, Britain and France, in turn, called on Russia to leave the nuclear power plant and the Zaporozhye region. Kiev directly accused the Russian Federation of shelling a nuclear power plant controlled by it.

"Dirty bomb"

The Ukrainian military is deliberately targeting the storage of nuclear waste at the Zaporozhye NPP - to provoke the release of radiation, said the head of the pro-Russian administration of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky.

"They were practically hitting the nuclear waste storage facility in order to create a kind of "dirty bomb" on our territory, to create a situation when a release would be made. [To] lead to atmospheric pollution and make an entire territory uninhabitable," he added.

The concrete protection of the storage still holds up. No direct hits were recorded.

"If they get into the concrete storage accurately enough, then it's scary to think, but it will cause something similar to what happened in Chernobyl - an outburst will occur," Balitsky stressed.

He called for an end to any military actions that threaten the nuclear safety of the plant. Now the NPP is managed by employees of the Ukrainian "Energoatom" under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

What awaits Zaporozhye?

The authorities of the Zaporozhye region are considering the possibility of electronic voting in a referendum on the issue of the region becoming part of Russia, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, said on August 8.

"With regard to electronic voting, we are thinking about it now, we are looking to make it technically possible to carry it all out," Rogov said, while stressing that the authorities "will not conduct any experiments."

On August 8, within the framework of the forum of the public movement "We are together with Russia" in Melitopol, the head of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Balitsky, signed an order to hold a referendum on reunification with Russia in the region. The event was attended by more than 700 delegates from all over the region. All the participants unanimously supported the decision to hold a referendum.

Rogov previously reported that a referendum on the status of the region could take place in the first half of September. According to him, "everything is coming to this," but it is difficult to name the exact date yet, election commissions are currently being formed.
