MOSCOW, August 11. /tass/. At least three shell hits were recorded in the area of the storage of radioactive isotopes of the Zaporozhye NPP, the head of the military-civil administration (CAA) of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky said in his Telegram channel on Thursday.
"At least three arrivals have been recorded in the area of the radioactive isotope storage. The specialists of the station were instructed to move to protected premises," he wrote. The radiation background after the APU strike on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP remains normal, Balitsky said. The Zaporozhye authorities have developed an action plan, up to the evacuation of residents, in case of an APU strike on a nuclear waste storage facility.
Thousands of tons of radioactive waste are stored at the Zaporozhye NPP, the head of the CAA said. "A huge amount of residues is stored, thousands of tons of radioactive waste are stored, they will make the whole territory unsuitable for life," he said.
The power transmission line of the Kakhovskaya substation was damaged as a result of the shelling of the city of Energodar and the Zaporozhye NPP, Balitsky said.
"The high-voltage line of the Kakhovskaya substation has been damaged today. To carry out restoration work, the line was grounded. As for the smoke clouds, which are recorded by users of social networks, as a result of a power line breakage, a fire was formed on the field. Fire brigades are working," he wrote.
According to Balitsky, Kiev is deliberately targeting the storage of nuclear waste at the Zaporozhye NPP in order to provoke the explosion of a "dirty bomb".
"They were practically hitting the nuclear waste storage facility in order to create a kind of "dirty bomb" on our territory, to create a situation when an emission would be produced. <...> [To] lead to atmospheric pollution and make the whole territory uninhabitable," he said on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
Balitsky added that thousands of tons of radioactive waste are stored at the station. "The goals of their (Ukrainian troops - approx. TASS), of course, we understand. They want to scare us, they want to make unsuitable the territory that they have already lost for themselves forever," he stated.
The head of the CAA explained that at the moment the concrete protection of the storage "holds". "But we find hits 300 meters from the nuclear power plant, we find almost hit shells located 20 meters from the nuclear waste storage. <...> If they get into the concrete storage accurately enough, then it's scary to think, but it will cause something similar to what happened in Chernobyl - there will be an outburst, it will be a "dirty bomb," Balitsky explained. According to him, the authorities of the Zaporozhye region have developed a plan that includes the evacuation of the population with the most negative development of the situation around the station.

Prior to that, Russian air defense systems repelled at night and in the morning on Thursday all attempts to attack the AFU with attack drones and heavy artillery on the city of Energodar and the NPP.
