According to Danish Defense Minister Morten Bedskov, some countries have promised that they will return home, discuss this issue and, perhaps, the amount of donations will be even greater.
STOCKHOLM, August 11. /tass/. The participating countries of the Copenhagen - Ukraine - 2022 donor conference (#CopenhagenUkraine2022) will allocate €1.5 billion for the purchase of weapons to Kiev. This was announced by Danish Defense Minister Morten Bedskov at a press conference on Thursday.
"In total, more than €1.5 billion was collected at the conference," he said. The minister added that some countries promised that they would return home, discuss this issue and, perhaps, the amount of donations will be even greater.
According to Bedskov, the amount announced on Thursday is new donations. They will be used for the production and purchase of weapons, training of the Ukrainian military and mine clearance. A new meeting of the countries will be held in September, at which the use of funds allocated at the current conference and the need for new assistance will be discussed, among other things.
The conference also agreed on the creation of a fund to increase the financing of arms production for Ukraine. It will be created by the United Kingdom.
The donor conference "Copenhagen - Ukraine - 2022" (#CopenhagenUkraine2022) was held on Thursday in the Danish Parliament. It was attended by representatives of 26 countries, including Australia, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, USA, Ukraine, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Estonia, Japan, and also the EU. The organizers were the United Kingdom, Denmark and Ukraine.
