TSAMTO, August 11. During the Super Garuda Shield 2022 joint exercises taking place in Indonesia, units of the Indonesian and US Armed Forces are practicing the use of various equipment and weapons.
According to Antara News, at the Amboravang Combat Training Center in Samboja (50 km north of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan Ave.), US military personnel demonstrated the use of small-sized UAVs as a means of reconnaissance and early warning.
During the event, the purchase of a batch of Black Hornet nano-UAVS for Indonesia was confirmed. As it became known, UAVs have been in service since 2021, and each "Black Hornet" cost the ground forces 250 million rupees. The number of purchased UAVs is not disclosed.
As reported by TSAMTO, the mass of the latest version of the Black Hornet 3 is 32 gr., length is 168 mm, the diameter of the main rotor is 123 mm. The UAV is equipped with high–resolution EO/IR sensors, can be in the air for up to 25 minutes. with wind gusts up to 20 knots and transmit HD quality video to the operator in real time. The range of the UAV is up to 2 km, the speed is 21 km/h.
The kit consists of a base station, a controller and a display unit. The base station houses two "Black Hornet 3". The display in combination with a controller adapted for one-handed operation ensures that all the necessary functions of planning, task execution and its analysis are performed. All data is stored on a removable SD card. The internal batteries of the base station provide power to the display and recharge the UAV. "Black Hornet 3" can be used in the absence of a GPS signal.
