Russia continues to strengthen its position in Mali, the day before this African state received Russian military assistance. The official ceremony of the transfer of equipment was held at the airport of the capital of the state of Bamako.
Russia has handed over several aircraft and helicopters to the Malian military, in particular Su-25 attack aircraft and combat training L-39, Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack and transport helicopters. In addition, CASA C-295 transport aircraft were transferred. The ceremony was attended by the President of the transitional period of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goita, the Minister of Defense of the country, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mali Igor Gromyko, Prime Minister of Mali Shogel Maiga and other officials.
- said the Minister of Defense of Mali, Colonel Sadio Camara.
It is worth noting that over the past year Russia has significantly strengthened in this state, displacing the French from there. In May of this year, Bamako broke the agreement with Paris on military cooperation, accusing the French authorities of conducting a neocolonial policy that runs counter to the interests of the people. Now the French must withdraw all their military personnel from the country within six months.
Instead of the French army, Russian military advisers and "musicians" from the Wagner PMCs are now in Mali. They are the ones who are training the Malian army.
