Moscow. August 5. INTERFAX - The S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Northern Fleet conducted training in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, the press service of the fleet reported.
"Training on air defense in the Arctic was conducted with the on-duty forces of the anti-aircraft missile regiment stationed in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, which is part of the Northern Fleet Air Force and air defense association," the press service said on Friday.
According to her information, two divisions of S-400 air defense systems and four MiG-29K fighters of the Northern Fleet were involved in the training.
"The calculations that took part in the training carried out a set of measures for reconnaissance, identification and tracking of targets and showed high professional training. All the worked-out standards are met not lower than the "good" rating," the report says.
The S-400 Triumph air defense system (Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region) is designed to destroy strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other means of air attack. According to official data, the system is capable of hitting aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 km, as well as ballistic targets flying at speeds up to 4.8 km/s at altitudes from several meters to several tens of kilometers at a range of up to 60 km.
