Military expert Knutov told about the tactical rifle "Stalingrad" that entered service with the Russian Federation
Military expert, director of the Museum of the Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov on Wednesday, August 3, told Izvestia about the TSVL-8 Stalingrad tactical rifle, which entered service with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
As the specialist explained, the range of the rifle reaches 1500 m, and its magazine is designed for five rounds.
According to Knutov, during the conduct of hostilities, sniper rifles are extremely necessary, since they make it possible to disable the command staff, that is, to actually "decapitate" an enemy unit.
"In addition, it is possible to disable even armored vehicles if the firing location is chosen correctly. Tanks and armored personnel carriers are disabled with just one cartridge. This kind of weapon was created to pierce bulletproof vests <...> If we assume that Ukraine mainly conducts defense in residential buildings, then it is very difficult without snipers. Therefore, the presence of sniper rifles is a necessity," Knutov said.
Military historian Nikita Buranov, in turn, said that the Stalingrad rifle shows good results, it is also purchased by foreign law enforcement agencies. At the same time, the expert added that it is a mistake to call the rifle the newest, since the manufacturer of Stalingrad Lobaev Arms has been producing high-precision weapons for many years and produces more than a dozen units of sniper complexes, including long-range ones.
Earlier on Wednesday, TASS, citing a source in the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, reported that during a special operation to protect Donbass, Russian snipers use the TSVL-8 Stalingrad rifle.
On July 22, it was reported that the latest Russian light drones from the Lastochka complex are being used in the area of the special operation in Ukraine. It was noted that during the fighting they inflicted a fire defeat on the manpower and destroyed several armored targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The day before, it became known that during the special operation to protect Donbass, the world's longest-range SVLK-14C "Twilight" rifle created in Russia was used for the first time. It was noted that the advantage of the "Twilight" is a combination of powerful cartridges, large caliber and high accuracy of shooting over long distances. At the same time, the rifle is quite heavy, and the cartridges for it are very expensive.
Russia launched a special operation to protect the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) on February 24. It was preceded by the aggravation of the situation in the region, the appeal of the leadership of the republics of Donbass to the Russian Federation with a request for help and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the DPR and LPR.
Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup in Ukraine, since 2014.
