Alexey Reznikov thanked American President Joe Biden
KIEV, August 1. /tass/. Four HIMARS MLRS units were delivered from the USA to Ukraine. This was announced on Monday by the head of the Ukrainian defense Ministry Alexey Reznikov.
"Four HIMARS installations have arrived in Ukraine. I am very grateful to US President Joe Biden," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
On July 22, the coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, John Kirby, announced that Biden had instructed to allocate additional military assistance to Ukraine, in particular, to transfer four HIMARS MLRS to Kiev, up to 580 Phoenix Ghost drones, as well as ammunition. As he noted, "this package [of military assistance] includes additional ammunition for them <...>, 36 thousand artillery shells" for howitzers delivered earlier and "anti-tank systems".
According to a representative of the US administration, the total amount of this assistance is estimated at about $ 270 million. With this in mind, the total security assistance provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the administration of [US President Joe Biden] is $8.2 billion, Kirby noted.
