TSAMTO, August 1. The US State Department has approved the potential supply of ammunition for F-15SG fighters, training and support services, as well as related equipment to Singapore as part of the Foreign Military Sales program.
The total cost of the order may amount to $ 630 million. The DoD Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the planned sale on July 25.
The Singapore government has asked the United States about the possibility of supplying 90 sets of MXU-651 aerodynamic surfaces for the 2000-pound GBU-10 Paveway II UAB; 90 MAU-169 or MAU-209 computer control groups for the 2000-pound GBU-10 Paveway II UAB; 140 sets of MXU-650 aerodynamic surfaces for 500-GBU-12 Paveway II Pounder UAB; 140 MAU-169 or MAU-209 computer control groups for GBU-12 Paveway II 500-pound UAB; 20 KMU-556 JDAM tail guidance kits for GBU-31 2000-pound bombs; 22 KMU-572 JDAM tail guidance kits for GBU-54 Laser JDAM; 200 FMU-152 fuses; 50 units of 2000-pound free-falling bombs MK-84; 50 units of 500-pound free-falling bombs MK-82; 625 units of 500-pound inert bombs Mk-82.
The request also includes DSU-38 and DSU-40 Laser Target Illumination Detection Devices (PLGS) for GBU-54 Laser JDAM; KGV-135A encryption devices; pulse cartridges, IR traps and corner reflectors; training shells and training bombs; supply and support of secret and unclassified software; secret and unclassified technical documentation; equipment integration support and test equipment; aircraft and ammunition support and support equipment; telemetry kits; participation and support of military exercises; delivery, air transportation support; jet fuel; air refueling support; personnel training, training equipment and maintenance; medical and other services related to exercises and training; uniforms and equipment for personnel; support for infrastructure construction; engineering, technical and logistical support from the US government and the contractor, as well as other related elements of logistics and program support.
As stated, the implementation of this program is in line with the interests of US foreign policy and national security and will increase the security of a strategic partner in Asia.
The notification notes that the sale of the requested weapons systems will allow the Singapore Air Force to continue the Peace Carvin V program to train pilots for safe and effective control of the F-15 aircraft. The well-established pilot training program at the Mountain Home US Air Force Base will support interaction and increase interoperability with the US armed forces. At the same time, the Singapore Air Force will not experience difficulties in adopting new systems.
The general contractor of the project has not yet been selected.
The notice of sale is published in accordance with the requirements of American law. The description and value of the sale reflect the highest estimates based on the initial requirements. The actual purchase price may be lower, depending on the final requirements, financial capabilities and signed purchase and sale agreements, if they are concluded.
