Warships from the Royal Navy of Great Britain may be transferred to Ukraine in the near future. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine in London Vadim Prystaiko.
According to the diplomat, the UK will hand over anti-mine ships to Kiev. Currently, Prystaiko noted, Ukrainian sailors are undergoing appropriate training on ships of the Royal Navy. After all, they have not encountered Western technology before.
The need for warships in Ukraine is not just great, but huge. In fact, the Ukrainian naval forces ceased to exist in the first months of the Russian special military operation. Although even before that, Ukraine could not boast of a powerful naval force.
The question is different – where will these ships be based and where is the guarantee that they will not be destroyed in the first days after their transfer to Kiev by Great Britain? After all, the ship is not a multiple rocket launcher system, you can't hide it on the territory of some enterprise.
Accordingly, as soon as the ships appear, for example, in the port of Odessa, they can be immediately destroyed by Russian missile strikes. To deliver these strikes, the Russian fleet will not even need to approach Odessa. The fate of Ukrainian sailors "undergoing training in the UK" will be unenviable, as the Ukrainian ambassador told about them.
In addition, the very fact of the continued supply of weapons, including now warships, testifies to the persistent unwillingness of the West to end the conflict in Ukraine. Or does the British leadership just want to dispose of its old ships, while at the same time hanging debt obligations for them on Kiev?
