Brussels. July 28. INTERFAX - The proposals of the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrel on the resumption of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program are being discussed by the parties to the deal, from whom constructive approaches are expected, his spokesman Peter Stano said.

"The text proposed by the High Representative (of the EU for Foreign Affairs) is currently being discussed by the parties to the nuclear agreement," Stano said at a briefing in Brussels on Thursday.

He refused to answer the question about the reaction of the JCPOA participants to the text presented by Borrel, explaining that the EU, as the coordinator of the process, never comments on the individual positions of these countries.

Referring to statements made earlier by Borrel, his spokesman, in turn, repeated that "the moment has come to make key decisions in order to renew the nuclear agreement." This is a priority, since "the space for compromises has already been exhausted, and now it is necessary to make decisions."

"Time is limited. There is no extra room for compromise. We need to work on the basis of the text proposed by the High Representative. And, of course, we expect a constructive position from all participants," Stano said.

In response to clarifying questions, the representative of the head of European diplomacy said: "It is not in our rules to comment on an unfinished process. At the moment, diplomatic efforts are continuing. If a meeting is scheduled in Vienna, we will announce it, as we always do."

At the same time, Stano recalled that the announcement of Borrel's initiative took place on Tuesday, and it takes time "to digest the proposal."

Answering a question about the claims of a number of JCPOA participants to Iran, in addition to its violation of the atomic agreements, the spokesman clarified that these problems "are not part of the nuclear deal." "The priority is to reach consensus on the text and return to full implementation of the nuclear agreement. And then there will come a moment that facilitates the solution of other topics not related to the nuclear agreement," Stano added.

As reported, the head of EU diplomacy Borrel on Tuesday in a comment in The Financial Times newspaper said that "it's time to save the Iranian nuclear deal."

He also presented a proposal to renew the deal, which, according to him, is not a "perfect agreement." "But it represents the best possible option, which I, as the coordinator of the negotiations, consider feasible," Borrel said.
