TSAMTO, July 28. The Serbian authorities hope to receive the most modern Ka-32 helicopters from Russia in a month to extinguish fires in the country and help the states of the region. This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated by President Alexander Vucic.
According to the agency, the heat for two weeks at the end of July in the Western Balkans with temperatures of about 40 degrees. C led to the largest fire in Slovenia. Fires are raging in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia.
"As for the equipment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we are expecting the arrival, we have long paid for, two "Kamov". Why? To let people know, we will be equipped with the most modern fire helicopters in the world in a month at the latest. These are Russian "Kamovs", which take 5 thousand liters of water in a tank at a time, and now our helicopters carry a thousand liters each," RIA Novosti quotes A. Vucic.
"You can understand for yourself what the difference is and how much we can help people in (the framework of the cross–border initiative – ed.) Open Balkan – Northern Macedonia and Albania and everyone else who asks, like our friends from Slovenia," said A. Vucic.
The Serbian president said in early June that he was concerned about whether the restrictive measures of the West would allow Ka-32 helicopters to be delivered to Serbia from Russia to extinguish fires, the agency notes.
