Such an indicator was achieved due to the effective use of the reserve of Soviet programs and initial development, based on economic considerations, the head economic research institute of the corporation - the "Agat Organization" reported
MOSCOW, July 27. /tass/. The estimated cost of a flight to the Moon on the Russian ship "Eagle" is four times lower than on the American one. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the main economic research institute of Roscosmos - the "Agat Organization".
They recalled that NASA astronauts are scheduled to fly to the Moon as part of the Artemis program. They will be carried out by a crew of four people on the Orion spacecraft, launched using the Space Launch System superheavy class rocket.
"Preliminary estimates of the cost of such a launch amount to about $4 billion. It should be noted that the study of a similar task for the flight of four people on a manned transport ship "Eagle" (undergoing ground experimental testing), launched using a superheavy class rocket "Yenisei" (the project has been developed), showed the possibility of solving this problem at least four times cheaper," the institute said.
As specified in Agate, such an indicator was achieved through the effective use of the reserve of Soviet programs and initial development, based on economic considerations.
"It should be noted that it is advisable to implement such large-scale projects in cooperation of several countries, which allows us to take the best technical solutions and groundwork, and distribute costs among participants," they added.
Developments for the Moon
The promising space manned spacecraft "Eagle" (former name - "Federation") is being created as part of the Russian lunar program, its tests will begin in 2022. The first launch of the Eagle on the Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome is scheduled for April - June 2024, during this flight, docking with the ISS is not provided. In 2024, a second flight is planned, also without astronauts, with subsequent docking with the station. The first manned flight may take place in 2025.
At the end of April, Dmitry Rogozin, who at that time headed Roscosmos, said in an interview with TASS that the project of a superheavy launch vehicle could be implemented by Roscosmos after 2030. In December 2020, Rogozin noted that the Russian superheavy rocket should be created on the basis of new technical solutions. Later, the RAS Space Council recommended that the leadership of the Academy of Sciences and Roscosmos address Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of postponing the creation of a superheavy-class missile system. The decision clarifies that the most breakthrough, promising and economically justified technologies should be worked out in the project.
