The Chinese army will take decisive measures to prevent possible external interference in the event of a visit to Taiwan by the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi, said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China Tan Kefei.
According to him, Pelosi's possible visit to the island will " seriously violate " the principle of "one China" and the provisions of three joint Chinese-American communiques.
US President Joe Biden, referring to the Pentagon's position, previously stated that Pelosi's planned trip to Taiwan "is not a good idea."
Initially, the trip of the US delegation was supposed to take place in April. Pelosi later tested positive for coronavirus, and the visit was postponed indefinitely.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry then wished her recovery and urged Washington not to postpone, but to cancel the visit of its representatives to the island.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the United States fears China's reaction in the event of a possible visit by Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
