The main military rivals of the West - Russia and China are increasingly improving in the creation of a new type of weapon - hypersonic missiles. These missiles can reach speeds many times faster than the speed of sound, which makes it problematic to track and eliminate them. This is how the British media provide information.
According to the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Western military experts admit that they do not yet have weapons against such missiles. According to them, it is only at the initial stage of development.
The publication notes that the West is greatly alarmed by the appearance of a similar type of missiles in Russia and China, which can give Moscow and Beijing a decisive advantage in combat. Western gunsmiths are working hard to create weapons capable of neutralizing these missiles. So far without success
According to sources, in 2021 China conducted a test of a hypersonic missile, and in May of this year the Zircon rocket was tested in Russia.
According to the president of the American defense company Raytheon, Wes Kremer, hypersonic missiles have their own weaknesses that need to be exploited. However, Kremer made it clear that the development of weapons against such missiles is in its infancy. Kremer did not say exactly what "weaknesses" he sees in Russian and Chinese hypersonic missiles.
Recall that the world's first hypersonic missile system is the Russian "Dagger". It has already been used against military facilities in Ukraine. After that, there was evidence that American technical specialists went to the affected object.
