Robopes
A video with a robot dog trying to shoot from a real weapon mounted on his back is rapidly gaining popularity on Twitter. The robot purposefully approaches the targets, aims and tries to hit them — fortunately, so far unsuccessfully. The recoil of the weapon is too strong for such a weak chassis, and the robot does not really know how to adjust its actions.
Vice journalists conducted an investigation and found out that the author of this creation is a Russian entrepreneur and enthusiast who develops hoverbikes and other technical innovations. The video first appeared on Alexander Atamov's YouTube channel. There are few details, but we managed to find out that it was a joke, a spontaneous experiment from the series "What if?". He did not plan to create a full-fledged armed robot, so he deliberately took a cheap Yusu model from Unitree, which barely copes with combat weapons. As experts have established, PP-19-01 "Vityaz" is fixed on the robot – a Russian-made submachine gun designed for the Rosgvardiya and the Federal Penitentiary Service. The video was recorded at a private commercial shooting range, in a safe environment. And although the robot in the video is unlikely to pose a danger, the very idea of equipping cars with autonomous control with real combat weapons is frankly alarming.
