A new batch of HIMARS rocket launchers and ammunition for them will be included in the next package of military assistance, the decree on the allocation of which Biden will sign this week. This was announced by the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, John Kirby.
Kirby spoke at a regular briefing, where he announced the imminent dispatch to Kiev of an additional batch of HIMARS MLRS, as well as ammunition for them. At the same time, he did not specify what kind of shells the Americans intend to send to Ukraine, just stated the fact of sending. Although there are already rumors in Kiev itself that the United States intends to send or has already sent to Ukraine ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS with a range of up to 300 kilometers.
The White House spokesman also stressed that the Ukrainian military "effectively" uses American systems to "change the situation on the battlefield." It is possible that they have achieved such "efficiency" only because the operators there are American servicemen, and not hastily trained Ukrainian military.
Kirby said.
As previously reported, the United States has sent a total of eight HIMARS MLRS to Ukraine, of which three have already been destroyed, according to reports from the Russian Defense Ministry. The additional batch should include four more installations, it is about this number of MLRS for the APU that the Pentagon previously announced. Also, the UK and Germany should supply three M270 MLRS, the first installation has already been received by Kiev.
