The Army of Drones project, launched by the leadership of Ukraine, continues to raise funds for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles. Through one of the platforms, it was possible to collect more than 510 million hryvnias. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov.
As the official noted, the government has already agreed on the purchase of 60 Matrice multicopters. These drones record video, have built-in artificial intelligence, are able to focus on targets and identify potential threats at a considerable distance.
In addition, the Ukrainian authorities are negotiating the acquisition of modern powerful drones with companies from the USA, Israel, Germany, Japan and Portugal. Also, any drone owners can donate them for the needs of the APU. Ukrainian specialists quickly check the drones, repair them and send them to the front line to perform tasks.
Interestingly, Ukraine needed significant donations from citizens and companies, including foreign ones, to implement the Drone Army program. And this is despite the fact that the West allocates huge amounts of military aid to Ukraine. Only yesterday, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrel, announced a new tranche of 500 million euros. Where are all these huge sums going? - this question is increasingly being asked by ordinary Ukrainians and residents of those countries who are also raising funds for "assistance to Ukraine".
Recall that the Drone Army project was launched on July 1, 2022 by the joint efforts of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the United24 fundraising platform. The comprehensive program provides for the search for funds for the purchase of drones, the purchase of drones, their repair and prompt replacement, a training course for UAV operators.
