TSAMTO, July 18. The structures of the Rostec State Corporation – Rosoboronexport and Russian Helicopters – have signed an agreement ensuring the production and delivery of a batch of upgraded Mi-171E helicopters to a foreign customer.
The updated machines are distinguished by an improved power plant and increased load capacity. In addition, the most modern avionics equipment is installed on them.
The contract provides for the delivery abroad of the latest upgraded Mi-171E helicopters manufactured by the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant of the Russian Helicopters Holding.
"Our equipment is distinguished by unique design solutions, proven efficiency and high reliability. Thanks to this set of qualities, Russian helicopters are in demand on the world market, and demand for them remains high even in the current geopolitical situation. Rosoboronexport's portfolio of orders for Russian Helicopters products today exceeds 200 billion rubles and will grow in the coming years," said Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov.
Mi-17 helicopters are successfully operated in high-altitude conditions in Latin American countries, in particular in police operations to combat drug smuggling. There is experience of their use in Arctic conditions, in the tropical climate of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and in African countries.
"In 2022, the volume of Russian helicopters already delivered to foreign customers through Rosoboronexport exceeded the figure of 30 billion rubles. Most of the exported vehicles were produced at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, whose share in the Rosoboronexport's order portfolio currently amounts to more than 80 billion rubles," said Alexander Mikheev, CEO of Rosoboronexport. – Thanks to strong state support and stable receipt of funds from foreign customers, the production base of the plant fully meets modern world requirements, scientific and technical potential is growing and developing. This makes it possible to satisfy market demands for the production of upgraded high-tech Mi-171Sh and Mi-171E helicopters, which are leaders in their class. The plan of export deliveries of these machines in the near future exceeds 100 units."
The upgraded Mi-171E helicopters are distinguished by an improved powerplant. Two VK-2500PS-03 engines are installed on the machine. They have increased power and increased resource indicators, and are also equipped with a digital control system of the FADEC type.
"A serious modernization of the load-bearing system has been carried out, which includes composite rotor blades, an X-shaped tail rotor with composite blades, a new skew machine and a reinforced transmission. The helicopter has improved the aerodynamics of the stabilizer, the keel beam has been improved, it is now possible to install both left and right sliding doors. The load capacity on the external suspension has been increased by 20%, which is now up to 5000 kg. The most modern avionics equipment has been installed to ensure the helicopter's round–the-clock use in any weather conditions," said Alexey Kozlov, General Director of the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.
The solemn ceremony of signing the agreement was attended by the head of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov. He stressed that the aircraft factory, a city–forming enterprise and the largest employer in the region, has a great future.
"Ulan-Ude Aircraft Factory continues to develop its product line, improve models, so the demand for helicopters is always high. The signing of a new contract is additional opportunities for the development of the plant, as well as for the development of the republic," A.Tsydenov said.
