The United States puts an end to the issue of imposing possible sanctions against India for the purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems. According to the Turkish press, the US Congress adopted an amendment exempting New Delhi from sanctions.
The House of Representatives of the US Congress approved an amendment removing India from the scope of the American law providing for sanctions for the purchase of weapons from potential opponents of the United States (CAATSA package). Now the bill must be approved by the US Senate and signed by Joe Biden, after which it will enter into force. In this case, India will no longer be threatened with restrictions for the purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems.
This decision greatly angered the Turks, who have been under American sanctions for several years, imposed just for the purchase of Russian anti-aircraft systems. As you know, Turkey was kicked out of the program to create a fifth-generation F-35 fighter, deprived of the opportunity to purchase American fighters and is still putting sticks in the wheels in every possible way in matters of arms procurement. According to the author of the article published in the Turkish edition of Haber7, the United States uses a policy of "double standards". India is very much needed by the United States, because it is a counterweight to China, with which the Americans have not developed relations.
