Lockheed Martin has signed a contract worth $ 58.8 million for the development and supply of prototypes of a new electronic warfare and reconnaissance complex, which will be installed on Stryker combat vehicles and further used in infantry units of the US army.
The program is designed until October 2023. The company will have to install complexes on combat vehicles, which will significantly improve the operational capabilities of American military units. With the help of the new electronic warfare system, American troops will be able to increase awareness of enemy actions, which will increase the options for offensive actions.
The TLS-BCT system, according to the US military, will help minimize modern threats in a real combat situation, which are increasingly shifting to the spectrum of digital technologies.
— said Ken Strayer, head of the electronic warfare and cybersecurity project at the Office of the Army Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Program.
The American press has already called the deal on the electronic warfare complex another victory for Lockheed, a defense giant that is increasingly strengthening its position in the American military industry, especially amid the Ukrainian crisis. Nevertheless, the company will have to spend at least several months to finalize the hardware and software based on previous experience and feedback from US army personnel about the shortcomings.
