The draft US defense budget for a record amount for the country has been approved by the House of Representatives of Congress. The amount of military expenditures in case of final adoption of the project will amount to $ 840 billion. There has never been such a sum in the history of US military budgets.
In addition, the draft defense budget involves the creation of a special fund to help Ukraine. The fund should receive up to $500 million a year. This indicates that the United States does not intend to curtail military support for Kiev.
329 congressmen voted for the draft budget, 101 congressmen opposed the adoption of the document. Adam Smith, Chairman of the Armed Forces Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, came up with the idea to create a fund to help Ukraine. The namesake of the famous economist believes that funds from this fund should be spent on the purchase of ammunition and other weapons for the Ukrainian army.
After approval by the lower house of Congress, the draft must be voted on in the Senate. If the senators also support the draft, it will go to US President Joe Biden for signature. There is no doubt that the head of the White House will sign the document, since the American administration is the most consistent supporter of increasing military assistance to Kiev.
Thus, it can be concluded that the United States is not set up to relieve global tensions, is going to continue to finance the conflict in Ukraine, as well as increase its military power in the context of the confrontation between Russia and China.
