According to the commander of the US Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sam Paparo, the RIMPAC 2022 naval exercises in the Pacific Ocean are not directed against China. Their goal is not to threaten or counter the PRC.
This is reported by the American magazine Defense News.
The admiral claims that during the exercises, the US Navy and the military from allied countries will practice skills and technologies that will become most important in the event of a potential conflict in the coming years.
Earlier, Chinese officials stated that Beijing intends to develop its military potential to implement the forceful scenario of Taiwan's accession by 2027. In this regard, American journalists asked Paparo whether Beijing's statement or other external factors influenced the scenario of the exercises. He replied that the biannual multinational naval maneuvers RIMPAC are designed to strengthen the skills applicable to counter the "Taiwan-2027 scenario", including amphibious operations and strikes from long distances.
Paparo said.
The Admiral noted that in modern warfare, shooters are often not tied to target designation. The weapon independently receives data from several sources, which makes the weapon more accurate, tenacious and deadly.
This year, the RIMPAC 2022 exercises started on June 29 and will last until the beginning of August. More than 25 thousand servicemen from 26 countries take part in them.
