On July 12, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Morozov showed the work of Russian military surgeons who, together with doctors of Donbass, provide medical assistance during a special operation to protect the region.
During the operation in Donbass, military surgeon Nikolai Grigoriev performed more than three thousand operations. Within the walls of the frontline hospital, he works as part of the advanced medical group "Brave".
"From the very beginning of the operation, practically, if a wounded person was delivered to us [earlier] within an hour and a half, now the wounded are in our hospital in 30-40 minutes, immediately after the injury," the surgeon shared.
The first patient who was saved by Nikolai Grigoriev in Ukraine was a pregnant girl. She was taken to a field hospital near Chernihiv with shrapnel in her spine. A shell from the positions of Ukrainian militants flew into a residential area.
"They were very afraid for the child, the conditions were difficult, in the fields, in tents, in conditions of constant fighting. Given the absence of a hospital, given the absence of a laboratory… A field, a limited time, and then immediately the life of two people in one person. It was hard, but they helped, evacuated," said Oleg, the head of the intensive care unit.
Doctors help both military personnel and civilians affected by the shelling of Ukrainian militants. In particular, among the patients of the "Brave" was a soldier of the army of the Luhansk People's Republic, who received shrapnel wounds to his arms and abdomen, as well as a civilian who suffered from the shelling of his village by radicals. A fragment from a shell hit the man in the shin and he was threatened with amputation, but doctors were able to save his leg.
"We always help civilians, too. Wounded are wounded. You don't look who it is, what it is. It's hard, of course, when you look at the wounded children, it's very depressing psychologically, but, nevertheless, we gather and do our job"
Local experts admit that they would not have coped without the help of their Russian colleagues. Sometimes you have to work under shelling, keeping calm, in order to help those who have received concussion, mine-explosive injuries, shrapnel wounds.
Medical assistance is provided to residents and defenders of Donbass around the clock. They support soldiers undergoing treatment not only with medicines, but also with children's letters and drawings. There is one wish in them — that the defenders of Donbass return alive and well.
On June 18, Izvestia correspondent Kirill Olkov showed the work of a Russian mobile hospital during a military operation to protect Donbass. Among the patients of the hospital are mostly civilians, however, former Ukrainian servicemen were also assisted there.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
