The completion of the construction of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome with a launch table for the Angara family of rockets will allow launching from Russia all spacecraft weighing from three to 27 tons. This was announced by the head of the state corporation "Roscosmos" Dmitry Rogozin, reports TASS .
"Taking into account the availability of the first and second stages [of the Vostochny cosmodrome], we will be able to launch from the national territory, from our first civilian cosmodrome, all payloads, the entire variety of spacecraft and space systems in dimensions from three to 27, and in the future — up to 37 tons, into a low reference orbit. This is very important, this is a historic event," he said during the first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the VIII All—Russian Prize "For Loyalty to Science".
Rogozin noted that the construction of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome should be completed in 2022, and in December 2023, the Angara launch vehicle will be launched from the new launch pad.
