Turkey continues to actively develop unmanned aircraft, at the same time developing domestic ammunition for it and integrating them into the weapons systems of attack drones. The latest Akinci strike drone has received another novelty.
According to the Turkish press, a laser-guided missile, previously used only by manned aircraft, has been introduced into the Akinci arsenal. We are talking about the use of a missile equipped with an LGK-82 laser targeting system. As reported, on July 1, the drone was tested with a new missile, the tests were recognized as successful.
- the Baykar Technologies company said in a statement.
Last year it was reported that Bayraktar Akinci received the SOM (Stand-off Mühimmat Seyir Füzesi) cruise missile. The SOM-A basic missile allows you to hit targets with known coordinates at a range of 250 km. Target data is entered into the rocket before launch, there is no possibility of re-targeting in flight. The SOM-B1 missile is distinguished by improved guidance means, and the SOM-B2 modification has a tandem warhead for hitting protected objects. A variant of the SOM-C1/2 anti-ship missiles is in development.
Akıncı belongs to the class of "heavy" drones. The drone can fly in fully automatic mode, land and take off independently. The maximum speed is 360 km/h, cruising speed is 240 km/h. The drone is equipped with an AFAR radar, six computers with artificial intelligence, a guidance system and six weapon suspension points with a total weight of 1,350 kilograms.
