Tula designers from the Instrument Design Bureau named after Shipunov developed a new modification of the Pantsir-SM anti-aircraft missile system with increased ammunition. The new complex received the prefix "TBM" (transport and combat vehicle).
As explained, the TBM will not have cannon armament and air target detection stations. Instead of two 30-mm guns and a radar, the complex carries a double ammunition package of 24 missiles. The SAM will receive target designation from other complexes, as well as radars combined into one system. A loading device is installed on the TBM, which allows the calculation to independently recharge the complex, as well as charge other SAMs.
It should be noted that the new anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex "Pantsir-SM" is designed specifically for the Russian army. In the new complex, all the shortcomings inherent in the basic model have been corrected. Unlike the Pantsir-S ZRPC already in service, the new complex received a rocket with an increased speed (up to 5 Mach against 1300 m/ s of the 57E6E rocket of the Pantsir-S complex).
In addition, the Pantsir-SM received a new multifunctional sighting station with an active phased array antenna that allows you to "see" targets at a range of up to 75 km. The aiming range of the new complex has been increased to 40 km. The complex is capable of recognizing and hitting all types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Also, new small-sized anti-aircraft missiles specially designed to destroy drones have been developed for the Pantsir-SM missile defense system. One vehicle can carry up to 48 such missiles in containers of four. Transport and combat vehicle in the variant with a double ammunition, respectively, 96.
