The shortage of personnel at Russian enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the near future will be about 400 thousand people, 120 thousand of them are personnel with higher education, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov said at a plenary session in the Tula region on Wednesday.
"The availability of young qualified personnel at defense industry enterprises in the current situation, including the political one, is a problem. The measures that are being taken give a certain result, today about 30% of all production personnel at defense industry enterprises are young people under 35 years old. At the same time, the shortage of personnel in the near future will be about 400 thousand employees, of which about 120 thousand are people with higher education. If we ensure this pace, we will eventually ensure the guaranteed security of the state due to the fact that in your hands will be, in fact, the country's defense capability, the ability to create competitive models of weapons," Borisov said during a session before the opening of the Engineers of the Future forum in Aleksin, Tula region.
According to Borisov, currently about 2 million people work at Russian defense industry enterprises, taking into account cooperation - about 6-8 million people. Due to various measures to support young specialists and targeted policies on this issue, the average age of employees at defense enterprises is gradually decreasing. For example, in the industrial and scientific fields, the average age of employees is about 43 years.
About the forum
The forum "Engineers of the Future", created on the initiative of the Chairman of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov, has been held in the format of a summer educational camp since 2011. Over the nine years of the forum, more than 15 thousand young specialists from Russia, CIS countries and far abroad have become its participants. In 2020, the forum was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, in 2021, they announced the postponement of the event for an indefinite period due to the deterioration of the epidisituation.
In the Tula Region, the 2022 forum site was created at the Shakhter recreation center in the city of Aleksin. A record number of faculties has been organized - 12, including English-speaking, as well as faculties of weapons, ammunition and special chemistry, complexes of precision weapons of the near tactical zone and a number of others. The forum was attended by about 1 thousand people from 70 countries, from the Tula region - more than 100 students of Tula State University and young specialists of military-industrial enterprises.
The program of the forum is divided into four main areas - educational, business, cultural and sports. Thematic days are planned, for example, "Governor's Day" with the participation of a number of heads of regions, "Persian Gulf Day" - heads of diplomatic missions of the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar in Russia are expected at the round table. The closing ceremony of the "Engineers of the Future" will be held on July 6.
