Exclusive footage of the operation of the heavy flamethrower system (CBT) "Solntsepek" appeared at the disposal of Izvestia.
The video shows strikes from the "Sun" on a battery of American M777 howitzers in the vicinity of Lisichansk.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces defeated a battalion of Ukrainian troops in the area of the Lysychansk Oil Refinery. It was noted that during the offensive actions in the refinery area, heavy losses were inflicted on the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
On June 24, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that it is impossible to hide from the volley of the "Sun" even in dugouts and trenches: after a two-hundred-kilogram projectile hits the target, the thermobaric mixture dissipates in the air and explodes under enormous pressure, creating a temperature of 3 thousand degrees.
"Solntsepek" is a modification of the Soviet TOS-1 "Pinocchio". The system is designed to support infantry and armored formations, clearing bunkers and trenches.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
