TSAMTO, June 24. During a special military operation, heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek" are used to destroy fortified long-term strongholds and positions of the AFU and nationalist battalions leading resistance during the liberation of settlements.

TOS-1A is designed for fire support of infantry and tanks, destruction of open and closed firing positions in various types of offensive and defensive combat, as well as for disabling lightly armored vehicles and vehicles.
"Solntsepek" operates in combat formations of supported troops from open and closed positions.
High accuracy of volley firing at an area target is ensured by direct sight (aiming) of the launcher at the target, automated guidance at a firing range of several kilometers.
The defeat of the enemy is achieved by a complex impact of shrapnel, high temperatures and high pressure.
Control and correction of the affected targets is carried out by calculations of complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles.
After completing the combat mission, the crews of the TOS-1A "Solntsepek" carry out a change of combat positions in the shortest possible time and promptly recharge the installations.
There are 24 thermobaric projectiles in the system package. They are able to cover an area of up to 40 thousand square meters, while destroying lightly armored vehicles and fortifications.
It is impossible to hide from the volley of the "Sun" even in trenches and dugouts: after a 200-kilogram projectile hits the target, the thermobaric mixture dissipates in the air and explodes under enormous pressure, creating a temperature of 3 thousand degrees. Even steel armor melts in such heat.
"We work on the Sun machine at very close distances. You can say at the forefront. That is, we can already work up to 500 m. Due to this and the presence of a very large number of goals for each job, we must also quickly change our position. Due to our extensive experience, which has been accumulated over the years, we do it in a matter of minutes. Our main advantage is the chassis based on the T-72 tank. This allows us to be at the forefront and not be afraid of at least a runaway fire," Roman, the deputy platoon commander, told reporters.
TOS-1A "Solntsepek" can strike at a distance of up to six kilometers. But even so, it can be too dangerous to fire in the fields from open positions. Therefore, the crews of combat vehicles have to work at night almost more often than during the day. This is safer and additionally creates a surprise effect for the enemy. Those who were lucky enough to stay out of the affected area, most often prefer to leave their positions and retreat, clearing the way for Russian servicemen, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
