TSAMTO, June 23. The Profile Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress amended the country's own draft defense budget for 2023, increasing it by $ 37 billion, including increasing military assistance to Ukraine to $ 1 billion.
This follows from the decision of the committee published on June 22, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the agency, according to the first version of the draft budget submitted by the committee on June 20, the costs of military assistance to Ukraine in 2023 were estimated at $ 450 million. According to the document, the head of the Ministry of Defense is proposed to be empowered "to provide support in the field of intelligence and security to the government of Ukraine."
Amendments to the draft budget of the House of Representatives were approved by a majority of the Committee members. 42 congressmen voted for him, 17 voted against.
The draft US defense budget of the House of Representatives of the Congress was introduced on Monday, June 20. The document also provides for various programs to support Washington's allies in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, including funding for the Pacific Initiative, the European Deterrence Initiative and the Baltic Security Initiative, RIA Novosti reports.
