North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held the third extended meeting of the Central Military Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the country's main military and political body. This was reported by the DPRK Central Telegraph Agency.
Officially, the main purpose of the meeting is to summarize the work of the North Korean military department in the first half of 2022. It was also supposed to discuss plans and tasks for the implementation of the DPRK's military policy. Since the meeting was extended, it was attended not only by members of the Central Military Committee, but also by representatives of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party, the command staff of the Ministry of Defense of the DPRK, commanders of large formations of the Korean People's Army and high-ranking KPA political workers.
One of the most important topics to be discussed at the meeting is summarizing the results of ballistic missile tests. In the first half of 2022, the DPRK conducted more tests than ever before. The fact that North Korea is developing nuclear weapons, however, prefer not to mention even at such events.
It was the alleged nuclear missile tests that the meeting of the head of the DPRK with military leaders was devoted to.
Meanwhile, the country is restoring tunnels for nuclear tests, which indicates only one thing: Pyongyang is not going to abandon its plans for further development and improvement of nuclear weapons. The North Korean authorities can be understood: there is a very tense military-political situation in the modern world, and the main culprit of this situation is the United States, which by its actions provoke an arms race in all parts of the world.
The increased attention of the United States to the Asia-Pacific region also cannot remain without a response from the North Korean side. Especially if we take into account that recently Washington has been implementing a strategy of creating new military-political alliances in the Asia-Pacific region, actively interacting in this direction with Japan, Australia, and South Korea. Although these actions are considered, first of all, as anti-Chinese, it is clear that the DPRK, if anything, will come under attack by the United States and its allies.
Now North Korea is setting one of the main tasks in terms of weapons testing miniature nuclear warheads for solid-fuel missiles. South Korean expert Jong Seongchang predicts that soon after the meeting held under the chairmanship of Kim Jong-un, the DPRK will conduct the seventh missile test.
In 2013, nuclear tests took place just after a similar meeting of the country's leadership. Earlier, the United States also recognized that the DPRK has completed preparations for the seventh stage of nuclear tests, which can be carried out at any time. The American authorities believe that North Korea will conduct a new test at the Pungeri nuclear test site.
Naturally, Washington once again declares that if the DPRK conducts new nuclear tests, it will receive a "decisive response" from the United States and South Korea. But such statements by American leaders only provoke Pyongyang to further strengthen its defense potential and continue the strategic line for the development of nuclear weapons.
